It is a great pleasure just to have this opportunity to communicate with all of my neighbors for the first time in a, very long overdue, community website format. The new Northgate Board is working hard to set up new community communication channels for everyone to take advantage of. This site is a first but very important new format for your new board members to communicate with all neighbors. Your new Board is going to ensure that all neighbors are informed about all important events and subjects within the community.

This new format is not intended to be a “Bully Pulpit” for the Board nor will it be used that way. It will also not be used in a format that creates antagonism or distrust within the community from anyone, including the Board. While the Board will have final approval on all website content, that responsibility will be used in a manner that promotes mutual trust and contentment for all community members.

In my opinion, even as a community member, the availability of information from the Board has been sketchy over the years. Even with the Board’s best efforts it was tough to get communication properly done with letters stuck in doors or on mailbox signs.The intended new Board format and communication format will be to break the website down into a wide variety of committee responsibilities with reports and updates from the responsible committee heads. We will have several new committee formats such as:

We also need contributors that might want to write general interest articles, puzzles, clean jokes, movie reviews, book reviews, local interest updates, sports, etc. Send in your ideas for the site. IT IS YOUR SITE….NOT MINE.

The various Committee Heads will have the responsibility to set up their teams, where applicable, and to evaluate, analyze, financially evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations to the Board. All project reports and recommendations will be made to the board and will be evaluated by the Board and final responsibility will rest with the Board for all projects. It is my intention to take the high level of emotionalism out of the decision making processes and to evaluate proposals based on financial impacts, bylaw compliance, legal compliance, fiscal long term community position, and overall community impact.

Decisions will not be made based on who yells the loudest or demands their own personal interest project. At the same time the Board will not be making evaluations and making final decisions based on emotionalism or dismissing proposals just because we can.

This email address will also be a ONE WAY general communication email account for each of you to send comments or suggestions to the Board. This box should not be used to contact Ilene or Fairfield but rather it is a website related one way suggestion box only. You will get no replies from that mailbox.

As we move forward over the next few months we will also be selecting new Board Members from those who contribute to the community and step up by being successful Committee Members. The intention is to select a minimum of two new members from this pool of community contributors. Board positions will not be filled by neighbors that do not display a sense of overall community awareness and responsibility. There are no specific qualifications that we are seeking. The qualities that we seek are from neighbors that want to contribute to the overall good and the overall enjoyment of our lifestyle at NORTHGATE.
